Graded Irish dance exams at The Gray School

The Gray School is pleased to announce …

that we will be hosting An Coimisiún graded irish dance exams on Saturday April 9th 2016 in Old Saybrook and Newtown Studios. The Gray School was the first school in New England to offer graded exams and is proud to continue this tradition. We would like to extend a warm welcome to our examiners,

Thomas Bracken, ADCRG, BG from MA and Kerry Kelly Oster, ADCRG, BG from NY.

  • An Coimisiún le Rince Gaelacha, the parent Irish Dance organization, has a graded syllabus by which certified examiners assess dancers practical dance knowledge.
  • This is a fantastic opportunity for dancers of all levels to gain recognition of their Irish Dance knowledge. This is not a competition. It is an evaluation of your dance knowledge throughout the various levels.
  • Each level has very clear requirements of the dances needed to be executed along with the bar requirement.
  • Each exam is designed to motivate and encourage students of all ages and levels of ability through a systematic measurement of progress and attainment.
  • Students may start with Primary Curriculum; move up through levels through Grade twelve.
  • Dancers wear their dance class attire and have their hair neat and clean and off their face.
  • Dancers may take up to and including three grades. The required dances for the graded exams are listed on the attached registration form.
  • All dancers receive a written assessment and official An Coimisiun Certificate. The commission office holds a record of all graded exams.

To reserve a place on the graded exam schedule please return  the attached form to class by March 8, 2016
